Having Trouble With Sound Mods

I tried installing Haven Kendrik's sound mod when I found out that all of the .pak files on my pc were set to be open with a zip file application. I reversed this in the registry and now they are unassociated however I still can't get them to work. I have them in the right folder and they are shown as being accessed by the game but no mod. Anyone have any suggestions?
